welcome back Wessex jpgWelcome back Wessex!

Well it’s that time of year again and we’re all looking forward to the start of the 2019 - 2020 season. Personally, this is my favourite time of the year when we have new mini youth players starting their journey into grassroots football with us. We also have the under 8s starting their first games under the FA umbrella, teams moving from 5 v 5 to 7 v 7 and 9 v 9, plus the introduction of offside rules for some of our teams, making for some interesting viewing for the first few weeks! Lastly we have some of our teams moving to 11 v 11 taking them towards adult football and beyond, where squad formation and positional play becomes so important on the larger pitches.

It’s been an exciting lead up to the start of the season with new and existing sponsors supporting the club with funds for new match kit, ensuring our players look the part on the all-important match days. We would like to thank them all for their very kind donations and continued support towards the club and players.

You will shortly be receiving emails (if you haven’t already) from our subs online system. For your information, these are branded as “Love Admin”. These will indicate what we need from you, not just regarding subs but also a reminder to ensure that all your contact and emergency contact details are correct. Please double check this since coaches will pull this very important information directly from the system should it be required.

Lastly, this is an opportunity for me to personally send my thanks to the large team of coaches and committee members that work not only throughout the season to give our 280+ members training and great football, but also carry out a huge amount of work out-of-season behind the scenes. You wouldn’t believe the amount of paperwork now required to get all of our teams playing football – it’s mind boggling. They do this for the love of the teams and the game as unpaid volunteers; giving up their time for the club.

So it just remains for me to say that I sincerely hope you all enjoy this season and all that it might bring, and your coaches and committee are here for you if needed.

Good luck all

Merry Christmas from Wessex Youth FC!

Youth football is taking a well-deserved break over the Christmas period and all of us at Wessex Youth FC would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

The season has got off to a flying start with new players, new coaches and a new kit for many teams. The committee and our valued team of volunteers have been working hard in the background to ensure that all of the players and parents/carers get the best experience possible. This is not an easy task with 280 members but we embrace the challenge and look forward to doing so for the rest of the season and beyond!

Wessex Youth FC simply couldn’t survive without our coaches, parents, carers and volunteers who give up their free time to ensure that our children have the opportunity to play football. We would like to thank each and every one of you for your fantastic work. And if you would like to get involved please speak to one of the coaches or contact me – we always need more help!

This is also a great opportunity to thank our many sponsors who have given so generously to provide kit for the teams. So a big thank you goes out to the following:
